Medicines & Prescriptions

Prescription Only Medicines Veterinary (POM-V) may only be prescribed by a veterinary surgeon, who must regularly reassess your animal. Our general policy is to reassess an animal requiring repeat prescriptions every three months, but this varies with individual circumstances. The standard fee for re-examination is £29.52 inclusive of VAT. If your pet requires blood tests as part of their treatment monitoring, these are priced separately and an estimate can be provided on request.

You may obtain POM-Vs from your veterinary surgeon or ask for a prescription and obtain the medicines from another veterinary surgeon or pharmacy. Prescriptions are available from this practice for a small fee but veterinary surgeons may only prescribe POM-Vs for animals under their care. Please note that a prescription may not always be appropriate, for example if your animal is an in-patient or requires immediate treatment. and will be subject to re-assessment of the patient.

All medicine requests must be made in advance, including those for farm medicines, and you will be informed, on request, of the price of any medicine that may be dispensed for your animal.
